If you’ve been to Wegmans, you know that Hallie Johnston manages a veritable “city” of food. But, it’s not just food. The magic of Wegmans is it’s people - experts at what they do and happy to be doing it for you as a customer. Hallie says that the magic of Wegmans customer orientation is hiring people who are “excited to make people smile and bring excitement and joy to the work day.”

Hallie relocated to Apex with her family from Rochester, New York to build a team and open the 100th Wegmans store and first in North Carolina. Opening day far exceeded her expectations with over 30,000 people showing up.

Hallie Johnston’s career with Wegmans began when she was 16-years-old in her hometown of Erie, Pennsylvania. After high school, Johnston participated in the Wegmans management internship program while attending Canisius College in Buffalo, New York. She returned to Wegmans Erie after graduating from college, holding roles in the meat and seafood departments, as perishable manager, and as assistant store manager before becoming store manager. Johnston and her family moved to Raleigh in 2018 to begin building and developing her team of 475 in preparation for the Raleigh store opening.

Wegmans has made a strong and public commitment to the communities it serves and embraces the principles of diversity in the workplace and the LGBTQ employees in it.

Enjoy our networking cocktail hour in the spacious upper floor of Cantina 18. Then, Cantina 18 will provide a buffet dinner for our group. There will be plenty of food and vegetarian options. A salad, entree, sides, and dessert will be provided. Beverages: Soda, Tea, or Water plus a full Cash Bar available with a wide selection of beer, wine, well drinks, and non-alcohol beverages.
