Ira David Wood III

Bare Boards and a Passion

Ira David Wood III is an American actor, author, singer, theater director and playwright. He is the Executive Director of Theatre in the Park, a community theatre company in Raleigh, North Carolina.

Wood was born in Rocky Mount, North Carolina, and was raised in the town of Enfield, North Carolina.

He is Founder and currently Executive Director of Theatre in The Park, located in Pullen Park. He wrote and directed the Opening Ceremonies for the U.S. Olympic Festival in 1987 – the largest single athletic event in the history of North Carolina.

Wood has also authored A Lover’s Guide to The Outer Banks and Confessions of An Elf.

In 2013, Wood became Artistic Director for the North Carolina outdoor drama The Lost Colony, winning a Tony award for Excellence in Theater. He still serves in that capacity during the summer months.

In Raleigh, he is best known and loved for annually portraying the miserly Ebenezer Scrooge in his own musical adaptation of A Christmas Carol which celebrated its 38th year of production this past holiday season. With three international tours to its credit, and having played to over two million people, the production is now cited as “... one of the most successful shows in North Carolina theater history.”

Enjoy our networking cocktail hour in the spacious upper floor of Cantina 18. Then, Cantina 18 will provide a buffet dinner for our group. There will be plenty of food and vegetarian options. A salad, entree, sides, and dessert will be provided. Beverages: Soda, Tea, or Water plus a full Cash Bar available with a wide selection of beer, wine, well drinks, and non-alcohol beverages.

Because there is a limited capacity for this event, we recommend advance registration.
